How to lose body fat?
The only answer is to be in a caloric deficit. There are many diets and eating programs out there, but if you are losing fat it is because you are in a caloric deficit and that is the only reason. There are different methods to being in a deficit using intermittent fasting, Paleo, Keto, Vegan, Flexible Dieting, but at the end of the day you need to consume less than your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure)
To lose body fat, we must be consuming less than what we are burning, it is that simple. Our metabolic health is extremely important when it comes to losing fat. That means, if you have been chronically overeating you need to reduce your calories in order to lose fat and if you have been chronically under-eating or yo-yo dieting, it is time to improve your metabolic health by slowly and consistency increasing the amount of calories your are intaking to reverse the negative metabolic adaptations that were created.
So, how do we know how much we should be consuming? Everyone has a Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), this is how many calories you burn per day. From there, the goal is to consume just under your TDEE to lose body fat, drastic “cuts” are not necessary or best for your mental and physical health.
